Historically this style of dance emerged after ballet, where professional dancers
wanted to brake free from the constraints that ballet had with it and wanted to be
more experimental. Contemporary dance can be highly technical yet it has the versatility
to be able to be applied to many different aspects of performance arts. From graceful
to very harsh hard hitting movements, contemporary dance is a powerful art form.
Classes are inspired by Graham, Alvin Aiely and Lestor Horton techniques with a personal
modern twist and can improve flexibility, stamina, movement vocabulary and performance
What to wear: to asses your technique, clothing that shows the lines (silhouette)
of the body is advised. E.g. leggings, t-shirt, vest top, leotard, comfortable trousers/bottoms.
